Rimonabant

Rimonabant is intended for the treatment of obesity in patients unable to lose their weight by eating healthily and exercising regularly. This medicine works by blocking certain receptors in the brain responsible for food cravings, the same receptors are responsible for tobacco dependency, and rimonabant is claimed to help people trying to quit smoking. Do not take this medicine if you are younger than 18, are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a history of an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients a tablet of rimonabant contains. Since rimonabant is a generic medicine and can be manufactured by several different drug manufacturers, every tablet can have a different set of inactive ingredients, although the active ingredient will always remain the same. The following are most commonly used inactive ingredients that can be found in rimonabant tablets: povidone, sodium laurilsulfate, maize starch, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, titanium dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, or microcrystalline cellulose. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned and take rimonabant anyway, you may experience hives, trouble breathing, rash and swelling. Seek emergency medical help if you think you may be having an allergic reaction to rimonabant. Do not combine any other medications with rimonabant, as drug interactions are possible. Id you are currently taking antibiotics, HIV medications, antidepressants, epilepsy drugs, medicines for weight loss, drugs for normal blood lipid levels, antidiabetes medications, rifampicin, St. John’s wort, antifungals, or depression medications, make sure you tell your heath care provider about them and avoid combining them with rimonabant if told to do so. Rimonabant is usually very well tolerated and only a few people are likely to develop any side effects. The following ones are sometimes experienced: vomiting, sleep problems, depressions, diarrhea, nausea, nausea, and dizziness. Side effects are quite individual and there may be some other ones you may develop. If they seem serious and prevent you from doing the tasks you never had trouble doing – call your doctor right away. In most cases, however, the side effects mentioned are likely to go away on their own. Just like most other medications, rimonabant comes in different doses and is supposed to be taken in exact accordance with your doctor’s recommendations. Taking more of this medicine is unlikely to make your treatment more efficient. Always make sure you take as much as needed, as an overdose of rimonabant will need to be reported to your local emergency center as soon as possible. The following symptoms may occur if you have overdosed: fatigue, insomnia, euphoria, and headache. Any medical conditions you have ever been diagnosed with are supposed to be reported to your doctor before starting the treatment, as they are likely to interfere with the success of your treatment. The following medical conditions are known to do that: liver problems, impaired kidney function and a history of epilepsy. If you have any other ones that you think are important to mention – do not hesitate to do that.
